VEGETABLE
MAN is a series of
compilations put out by the
Italian
alternate label Oggetti Volanti Non
Identificati. So farfour CDs have been put
together as an act of devotion to Syd Barrett,
once leader of the worlds formost psychedelic rock band Pink Floyd. Artists from all over
the world have combined their forces in
contributing to this rare but exciting set of records, among these In the labyrinth
with their own interpretation of this long lost gem called Vegetable man.
This single was in fact retrieved by the label running the show for the
Floyd at the time and never to be reissued, until now! For it is
the aim of Dario Antonnietti,
who is responsible for the Oggettivolanti
label to eventually be able to present 1000 different versions! The
cover of this volume which is the third one was
painted in the autumn of 2004 by Peter Lindahl. Also out on the market is THE VEGETABLE
MAN PROJECT - VOLUME 4 with, among many both
intriguing and far out versions of the old classic, an interpretation
featured by former Swedish whistler
members Patrik Arvidsson and Sussi Johansson together with Peter
Lindahl and Helena Selander of In the labyrinth. Currently in process
is the next one in the series, VOLUME 5,
on which Peter and former guitarist/ lead singer of Swedish whistler Michael Svidén will combine
their forces as MR. Suede,
a psychedelic pop experiment with Pink Floyd and Beatles aspirations
and promised to be a real killer! So watch out for it
next spring!

| PEACE
FROG In May 2005, yet another release by the Greek label Nowhere street music saw the light of day on which In the labyrinth has one track called The black plague. These compilations, normally refered to as Gew gaw, are highly experimental and deal mostly with modern psychedelic rock. |
FLORALIA VOL 3Is a compilation featuring various experimental bands and artists from around the world. The series of Floralia, released in the late nineties by Italian Miz maze plays a lot around similar genres as Gew gaw and also the Vegetable man series by Oggettivolanti. On this Floralia album In the labyrinth are represented with one five minute track called Sagarmatha, which was recorded in 1998 and bares a strong influence from Hindu culture. MARGEN RECORDS have a sampler out to complement one of their Spanish progressive magazines, this giving you a play list of various international prog artists. Here you can find a special version of the ITL song Out of this maze. LEAK: THE OLD TEAHOUSE In 2001 this album, which
runs in the vein of Industrial ambient, was released by Cold meat
Industries. The brainiac behind this dark and
fascinating collection of musical soundscapes is Tolufim (Danjel Eideholm), who is
also responsible for Hejd and various other Ambient related projects.
Together with not less than two Peter Lindahls (PL Junior and PL
Senior) he has conjured up this little masterpiece. Now if anyone is
wondering: No! These two Peters are by no chance related, not even at a
distance and yet they carry the same name! Peter "Senior" Lindahl
contributed with flute, viola da gamba and zither, "Junior" with
a few keyboards and Tolufim with all the rest including production and
sound. |
